'Twas A Fancy Garden Although it is somewhat of a disappointment when a productive garden dies off as the result of freezing weather during autumn, it isn't quite exactly devastating. That said, this song is a rather melodramatic and tongue-in-cheek requiem of sorts, mourning the loss of the flowers which populated my garden during the time at the end of summer and beginning of autumn which some refer to as the second spring of the year. The heat of summer has dissipated at this time and so plants which were suffering a little as a result of the scorching sun of summer revive and produce lots of flowers and thrive for several weeks before a series of hard freezes comes along and spoils the fun. Sometimes the party lasts until late October and some years it continues a little ways into November. It's never quite the same from year to year. |

Lyrics:
It was a fancy garden
Then winter came and sowed destruction
It's been said by sages wise |
