Hotter For anyone who hasn't heard the news, Death Valley is officially the hottest place on the planet. The record temperature was recorded on July 10, 1913, and is 56.7 degrees C (134 degrees F). Up until recently, a city in Libya was considered to be the hottest place in the world. However, that record was declared invalid after an investigation by the World Meteorological Organization revealed some glaring inconsistencies. The old record of 136.4 degrees F was claimed by the city of Al Aziziyah on September 13, 1922. Back when the record was set in Death Valley, the actual location that the measurement was taken was known as the Greenland Ranch. That location is now called Furnace Creek. |

Lyrics:
Vultures flying in the air
Just how hot it gets
Hotter than a furnace |
