Natural landscapes are wonderful and it's often difficult to imagine how humans could possibly improve upon them and arguably there is nothing more beautiful than a natural landscape populated by native flora and fauna. However, humans nonetheless endeavor to create novel landscape designs which combine a number of elements in hopes of constructing something of beauty which works in spaces around homes, other types of buildings, roadways and such. Sometimes humans only make slight changes to the natural environment and other times these changes can be quite substantial. Tools such as shovels and rakes may be used on small projects, but large projects require the use of heavy machinery. Often bricks, blocks, stones, and boulders are moved around or brought to a location to create an interesting layout, but without a doubt the most important consideration when it comes to landscaping is plant selection. When all is said and done, it's all about the plants!
