      The world of snacks can be divided into items which require refrigeration and those that don't, and although there are dozens of snack items available at the typical grocery store, the number of snacks that require refrigeration is much lower than those of the unrefrigerated variety. While nuts, popcorn, a wide assortment of chips, candy, cookies, crackers, beef jerky, dried fruit strips, fresh or dried fruit, donuts, and a few others require no refrigeration, items such as ice cream, popsicles, yogurt, carrot sticks, celery, perishable fruit such as strawberries or melon, and gelatin must be chilled. In either case, not having snack foods on hand to satisfy those between meal desires for something to eat can be somewhat of an inconvenience and so it's a good idea to stock up on these items in order to be prepared to deal with a case of the munchies. In fact, it has been asserted that between meal snacking is a healthy habit, providing that the foods selected to munch on are wholesome and properly nutritious.
