Lesson Fourteen: Decimal Review

Adding decimal values is just like adding whole numbers. For the most part you can just pretend that the decimal point isn't even there. Here are a few examples: 


              .55		.83
            + .43             + .12
           -------           -------
              .98               .95


              .41               .62
            + .35             + .37
           -------           -------
              .76               .99
All you have to do is make sure that the tenths columns are lined up and that the hundredths columns are lined up. Actually, you just line up the decimal points and the columns fall nicely in place. Consider the following problems: 

        .33 + .22 = .55		.41 + .22 = .63

        .45 + .13 = .58		.09 + .10 = .19
If you want you can re-write each of these problems vertically.
