Lesson Ninety-two: Adding Fractions

You will recall:

Adding Fractions With Like Denominators


We can add any number of fractions with like denominators almost as easily as we can add two fractions with like denominators.

Here's an example: 


       2         3        5         10 
      ---   +   ---   +  ---   =   ---- 
       8         8        8          8

      Convert improper fraction 10/8 to mixed number 1 2/8

      Remember to reduce (if necessary): 1 2/8  =  1  1/4

Here's another example: 


        4        5         7        16
       ---   +  ---    +  ---  =   ----
        9        9         9         9

       Convert improper fraction 16/9 to mixed number 1 7/9
