Arithmetic Grade Six

You can add any number of numbers together. In this lesson we will take a close look at adding three numbers together. Here's a sample problem:


	533
	822
       +491
      -------

You start adding in the usual way: you add the ones column:

Since the sum for the ones column was less than ten you didn't have to carry (or regroup).

Next you add up the tens column:

This time you did have to carry since 3+2+9 is greater than 9.

Finally you add up the hundreds column and you are done!
