Lesson One Hundred Seventy-nine: Temperature Conversions


Two scales used to measure temperature are Fahrenheit and Celcius. You can convert a temperature on one scale to an equivalent temperature on the other scale by using the following conversion formulas.

Basic Conversion Formulas: 


    Celcius to Fahrenheit --> (Cx9/5)+32
    Fahrenheit to Celcius --> (F-32)*5/9
Here are some examples of converting from Celcius to Fahrenheit: 

  Temperature: 38° C

  Apply conversion formula (substitute 38 for the C in the formula):

    (38*9÷5) + 32 =
             68.4 + 32 = 100.4

  ANSWER: 100.4° F




  Temperature: 15° C

  Apply conversion formula (substitute 15 for the C in the formula):

    (15*9÷5) + 32 =
               27 + 32 = 59

  ANSWER: 59° F




  Temperature: 101° C

  Apply conversion formula (substitute 101 for the C in the formula):

    (101*9÷5) + 32 =
             181.8 + 32 = 213.8

  ANSWER: 213.8° F
In general, remember that your temperature in Fahrenheit will be much higher than the equivalent temperature in Celcius.
